A celebration of light and projection inspired by Chinese philosophy, art, architecture and traditional folklore, Luftwerk illuminated the Chicago Cultural Center and Millennium Park’s Ice Rink to commemorate the 2014 Chinese New Year.
Inspired by nature, color, bilateral architecture, and geometry, Spring Light is a dynamic celebration of the Chinese New Year in Chicago. Video mapping the neoclassical building of the Chicago Cultural Center with opposing, yet harmonious patterns and video imagery inspired by Chinese philosophy, architecture and culture, Spring Light transforms the building into a moving world where images of nature, geometry and color all intertwine in an artistic and harmonious balance.
Simultaneously, Luminance transformed Millennium Park’s Ice Rink into a canvas of colorful shades and hues, an ever-shifting palette of red, blue, green, yellow, and magenta for an immersive and playful experience of light and shadow.
